Check your heart and make sure your intention steers you in the right direction.

About This Quote

People often have a hard time being honest with themselves. They know they have a tendency to do things that they shouldn’t, but they don’t have the strength to stop themselves. This quote reminds me of a day when my friend gave me a ride home. It was a rainy day and I was late to meet a friend of mine for lunch.

My friend offered to pick me up and take me home, but I told him that I would take the bus. However, my friend insisted that he wouldn’t let me get wet and offered to pick me up after I got off of work at 4:30 instead. When we arrived at my apartment building, we both realized that we had forgotten our keys and we were locked out of the apartment we lived in.

We both knew we didn’t want to go back and stand in line for our keys, but we couldn’t think of anything else to do. We opened all of the windows and doors as wide as possible so that the rain would run out as fast as possible. After about 20 minutes, enough rain had run out of the windows and doors that we were able to open them again and get back inside our apartment without getting drenched.

The moral of this story is, don’t be afraid to be honest with yourself and admit when you do something wrong. There is no shame or embarrassment in doing things you shouldn’t because it will keep you from doing things you shouldn’t in the future.
